One day, one volunteer

Chirine Docquin

My express bio: Originally from Tehran, I arrived in France in 1983. A few years later, I obtained a master's degree in public relations at the University of Lorraine. I worked as a childcare assistant and educational assistant with disabled children. I have been living in Lyon for twenty-nine years and have been a volunteer at the Lumière festival since its creation in 2009!

My favourite actors: Edouard Baer, Golshifteh Farahani

My favourite film: Les Choses de la vie

My taste for volunteering: I've always had what you might call a "volunteer spirit", I like to help others; what I like most is sharing! I have done volunteer tasks at the library of the University of Lyon II. Within the association Femmes solidaires du Rhône, I give theatre and literacy classes.

My tasks at the festival: I have done several tasks: from distributing newspapers and programmes to welcoming the public during special screenings and stocking shelves in the village DVD shop. Receiving people with a smile may seem trivial, but it's important to me.

Best memory of the festival: I have so many here! But if I had to choose one moment, it would be the Lumiere Award ceremony for Catherine Deneuve. It was an incredible moment: Vincent Lindon's speech was magnificent; it was very moving to be all together to celebrate French cinema!
