The year 2017 marked a century of shared history between BNP Paribas and the movie industry. These 100 years have enabled the Group to build a close relationship and cultivate a set of common values with the cinema arts, becoming over time the number one bank in Europe for film and filmmaking, with involvement at all stages of the film industry value chain. Cinema has therefore quite naturally become one of the main areas for developing Customer Affinity with the BNP Paribas brand.
This year BNP Paribas launched the BNP Paribas New Cinema Talent Fund, an investment fund whose purpose is to support French-produced or co-produced work by young directors.
BNP Paribas is also the exclusive partner to cinema festivals such as Le Printemps du Cinéma and La Fête du Cinéma, annual actions organized by the French National Cinema Federation to promote cinema-going. The Group is delighted to be able to enable large numbers of people to enjoy an outing to the cinema every year in this way.
Our passion for cinema has further prompted us to support the Festival Lumière ever since its creation in 2009. This is a unique annual occasion to highlight films and filmmaking, reflect on the history of movie entertainment, and also showcase the city of Lyon, the cradle of the invention of cinematography.
BNP Paribas is proud to link its own image with the Lumière Institute, a truly unique cinema-related museum in the world.
