Tilda   Mann

Lumière welcomes this astonishing English artist with many facets: As an actress, she alternates quallity popular successes (Michael Clayton, The Chronicles of Narnia, Snowpiercer or Okja) with underground works (as Derek Jarman’s fétiche actress…). She is also a screenwriter, director and producer.

The eminent Michael Mann (director of The Insider, Collateral) will join us in Lyon where he’ll meet the public at a screening-event at the Auditorium of Lyon and introduce Heat in a restored version never-before released in France.

Kurys   Karina

Lyonnaise Diane Kurys débuted as an actress before directing Peppermint Soda (Diabolo menthe) in 1977, which left a definite impression on audiences.

She has since made thirteen films, some autobiographical, painting the emotions and morals of an era with sensitivity, as in C’est la vie or the superb Entre Nous, filmed in Lyon.

The New Wave icon will introduce the film she directed in 1973, Living Together, a work restored by the SND and presented in exclusivity for the festival. She will also, inevitably, speak about her collaboration with Jean-Luc Godard with the screening of A Woman is a Woman. The actress, filmmaker and singer will be accompanied by Dennis Berry, director of the recent documentary, Anna Karina souviens-toi.

Friedkin   Stevenin

An encounter with one of the most talented and disruptive filmmakers of New Hollywood, who has lined up both huge successes (The French Connection, The Exorcist) and daring, edgy works (Sorcerer - a Clouzot remake - and Cruising).

A prolific actor (200+ films), Stévenin has also been assistant director to Cavalier, Truffaut, Rivette and Rozier. He comes to Lumière as a filmmaker, to introduce the three movies he has directed, just newly restored by Le Pacte: Mountain Pass, Double Gentlemen and Mischka.

Del Toro

HellboyPan’s LabyrinthPacific Rim, or the rarely seen Cronos… The Mexican filmmaker is one of the most original Hollywood directors of the fantastic genre. He comes to Lyon for the French premiere of his new film, The Shape of Water, and to share his amazing “carte blanche” list of films.
