An interview with Pascal Fèvre, Regional Director of BNP Paribas Commercial Banking in France's Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region.
What is the nature of the partnership between BNP Paribas and the Lumière film festival?
BNP Paribas has built a strong relationship with the Institut Lumière and the festival since its inception in 2009! The partnership has enabled us to create great synergies in our region. The cinema is a vehicle for solidarity initiatives in the city, such as the organisation of screenings for children in hospitals (Léon Bérard Centre, Women-Mother-Child Hospital). We have also opened a fun space for festivalgoers at our stand in the Lumière festival Village. It is an opportunity to invite our clients, partners, employees and movie buffs to major events such as the Lumière Award Presentation Ceremony. In all, some 600 people are invited each year!
What actions has BNP Paribas recently initiated in support of cinema?
Through our campaigns on the We Love Cinema website and social networks, our partnerships with festivals, partner films and other premieres organised in France, we invite 100,000 people to theatres every year! In November, we ‘ll be launching the 3rd edition of the ‘BNP Paribas #Cinéculte Screenings’, enabling 10,000 people in 10 French cities to discover 10 cult films adapted from literary works. Finally, we have strengthened the youth component of our existing festival partnerships, especially with the Young People's Choice of the Télérama Cinema Festival and the High School Students' César awards.
What would you like to see this year at Lumière ?
The Presentation of the Lumière Award to Isabelle Huppert - an actress of exception with many roles to her credit, winner of a César award and a Golden Globe - is undoubtedly one of the high points. I admire the diversity of her characters, whether in The Piano Teacher or Elle. And of course, the tribute to Alain Delon... how could I miss that?
