This is the territory Jérémie Renier chose to make a necessary and very, very surprising road movie-documentary.

THE SUBJECT: Deeply distraught by the accidental death of his best friend, actor Gaspard Ulliel, Jérémie Renier travels to the Arctic with explorer Loury Lag.

THE METHOD A long letter from Jérémie Renier to Gaspard Ulliel, addressed in voice-over, also featuring interviews, scenes of journeys unfolding -  a blend of conversations and landscapes.

BONUS: ‘My face is freezing,’ says Jérémie Renier. ‘Yeah, well, you'll just have to get used to it,’ quips Loury Lag spontaneously. This documentary takes a path that we think we can surmise, that of the long road of grief, transformed into a literal metaphor, travelling in open terrain, where you must make it through despite everything, against all odds, and where ‘one mistake, one wrong choice, and you die’. Suddenly, the film turns into a highly prosaic character study and asks pertinent questions. After all, ‘Why follow a guy you barely know?’ Renier, torn between fear and trust, develops his story through second-by-second candidness, rendering the stages of evolution of the human soul very comprehensible. His documentary reveals the importance of never anticipating anything or attempting to control it. This sense that everything is ‘yet to come’ shows him proving particularly resilient, or even more to the point, original. As the Dardenne brothers would say, ‘Our wonderful Jérémie’.
