Juliette Binoche, director, introduced her first film, In-I In Motion at the Pathé Bellecour

‘It’s an honour to introduce this film at Lumière. It’s a project that began two years ago, in Cannes. We are going to discover this version together; it’s a world premiere. This film allowed me to discover myself, thanks to my encounter with the dancer Akra Kan. I hope it will fuel your creativity; that was the goal of this work. The idea of learning to dance in six months was an almost impossible challenge, but I was surrounded by exceptional people.’

Philippe Rouyer was at the events village to talk about de Positif

‘Bernard Chardère founded Positif in 1952 to offer a new perspective on cinema. Positif was born in Lyon. Its editors have always owned the title of the magazine, which is published entirely by the Institut Lumière. So the review has returned to Lyon! There did not exist a single line written in French about Martin Ritt, so we wrote 24 pages in our special issue. This creates a synergy with the Lumière film retrospective. Positif'sstrength lies in its long interviews. We’re independent, we don't give ourselves a salary, we keep the magazine alive. In 20- or 30-years’ time, people will be able to read back issues, just as today we’re happy to discover interviews with Orson Welles or François Truffaut. The films being released today will be tomorrow's heritage works. Our work is also a question of loyalty. Tarantino never forgot that we did a cover story on Reservoir Dogs. Years later, when we requested an interview, he told his press agent, “You don't say no to Positif. Have them stop by during my lunch break.”’
