One day, one volunteer

BRIEF BIO: She will be one of the volunteers pampering festivalgoers with a delicious breakfast during the 'Trip to the Ends of Horror’ all-nighter.  In her second year as a volunteer, Jacqueline Pagés convinced her daughter Marie to join her. A volunteer at the ‘Quais du Polar’ and the ‘Peinture Fraîche’ street art festival, she will also be giving her time to the Lentilly town council, providing administrative assistance, reading and personal support. It's a way for this native of Drôme to defend the values that are important to her, such as ‘solidarity and respect’, principles the former pharmacist-biologist at the HCL (Civil Hospitals of Lyon) has always applied on a daily basis. As a young retiree, Jacqueline Pagés has swapped her white lab coat for her red volunteer fit,  much to her delight, and that of the festivalgoers who are lucky enough to bump into her.

MY FAVOURITE DIRECTORS: Ken Loach: I really like his social and socially-conscious films. His works always encourage us to question things, and they address themes that are central to our lives. I also love the films of Jacques Audiard and Stéphane Brizé.

THE MOVIE THEATRE WHERE I DISCOVERED THE CINEMA: It was the “Ciné Foyer” in Portes-lès-Valence. I must have been ten years old and the screening was War of the Buttons.

MY GO-TO MOVIE:  With no hesitation, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Milos Forman, which I saw at the Comoedia. Jack Nicholson is so poignant, it’s the first time I came out of the cinema in tears!

WHY I VOLUNTEER: Since my retirement, I've had more time to devote to voluntary work and it's very important because it represents certain values that I hold dear, such as solidarity and respect.

MY MISSIONS AT THE FESTIVAL: Welcoming the public to the Opening Ceremony and Presentation Ceremony. Cinema liaison officer, preparing breakfast for the ‘Trip to the Ends of Horror’ all-nighter at the Halle Tony-Garnier
