QUICK BIO: Jeanine Manceau, a young retiree from the civil service, has been a volunteer since this year: “It's the contact with people that I like the most! The festival has also made me want to see more classic films”. She is even involved with the Monplaisir neighbourhood festival committee. A former administrative assistant at Villeurbanne Town Hall, she was one of the voices on Lyon's Canal 99 radio station: “We used to bring our funk and disco records to do the weekend and evening shows”. She shares her passion for cinema with her brother Daniel, a volunteer driver at the festival.

MY FAVOURITE DIRECTORS: I'm a die-hard Spielberg and Tim Burton fan, I love everything related to the fantasy genre.

THE MOVIE THEATRE WHERE I DISCOVERED THE CINEMA: It was a movie theatre called “L’Olympia” in the third arrondissement of Lyon. My grandmother used to bring us to see The Aristocats, I must have been eight years old. I also remember seeing The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, it was incredible!

MY GO-TO MOVIE: Santa Claus is a Stinker by Jean-Marie Poiré: I love the story and the actors. I’m a big fan of the Splendid ensemble troupe. I think I've seen the movie about thirty times; I know all the lines by heart! But I'm sure that each time you can still discover new details.

VOLUNTEERING: The festival is my first experience of volunteering. It’s an opportunity to discover the Behind-The-Scenes of such an event.

MY TASKS AT THE FESTIVAL: Welcoming the public to the UGC Confluence and UGC Astoria cinemas, working in the catering service and helping with the deinstallation of the Village.
