QUICK BIO: A childhood spent in Tunisia, then nursing studies in Nancy, obtaining a BTS in communications and then a switch to the cultural sector in Lyon... At just 23, Nina Delaunay is a globetrotter with an atypical path. Currently a student at ICART, the young woman has always been passionate about cinema and photography: “In my family, we had a tradition of watching a DVD one evening per week.” So it’s no surprise to find this Tarantino fan at the Lumière film festival. After discovering the event as a spectator, Nina Delaunay decided to take the plunge this year and join the team of volunteers. Nina’s sense of commitment has always been ingrained in this young woman from Angers, who has been involved in UNESCO missions since she was a high schooler. During her nursing studies, she also participated in initiatives to promote access to healthcare in Benin, conducted by the Amis'D Gens association.
MY FAVOURITE DIRECTORS: Without hesitation, Tim Burton! He's a unique director, and his films are instantly recognisable; I love his dark sense of humour. I'm also a big fan of Tarantino's work - it's always as impressive as it is mind-boggling, what he manages to do!
THE MOVIE THEATRE WHERE I DISCOVERED THE CINEMA: The Alhambra Zéphyr cinema in La Marsa, Tunisia, where I grew up. I must have been ten or twelve and my first film was Tomboy by Céline Sciamma, which had a big impact on me!
MY GO-TO MOVIE: Hacksaw Ridge, directed by Mel Gibson and starring one of my favourite actors: Andrew Garfield. I love him and he's really impressive in this film.
WHY I VOLUNTEER: More than anything, I like to make myself useful and I enjoy contact with people. Being a volunteer here is also a chance to discover what goes on behind the scenes at the festival and a good opportunity to meet professionals from the cultural world.
MY TASKS AT THE FESTIVAL: Welcoming the public to the Hangar at the Institut Lumière and for the ‘Trip to the Ends of Horror” All-nighter: supervising the makeshift dorms at the Halle Tony-Garnier and preparing breakfast.
