QUICK BIO: Sylvie Damon is volunteering for the festival for a second year because she loves “seeing all the happy people in the theatres”. It's also a way for this former civil servant from the Ministry of Finance to celebrate the city she chose to call home. “I came to Lyon ten years ago to stay near my children who were starting university, and I stayed because I fell in love with the city!”
MY FAVOURITE DIRECTORS: Clint Eastwood: I'm impressed by his evolution, from westerns to his more recent movies. As a literature fan, I'm particularly keen on François Truffaut, for the quality of his dialogue.
THE MOVIE THEATRE WHERE I DISCOVERED THE CINEMA: When I was seven years old, I used to go to Cannes or Nice every summer with my family - I loved it! I also used to go with my father to the local community centre in Pélussin, which was called ‘Le Foyer’, and I still have fond memories of watching Pierre Tchernia's film Le Viager!
MY FAVOURITE MOVIE: Out of Africa, The Bridges of Madison County – I’m a big fan of Meryl Streep.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH VOLUNTEERING: For ten years, I was a volunteer for the association ‘Les Blouses Roses’, which organises cultural activities for children and adults in hospitals.
MY TASKS AT THE FESTIVAL: Setting up the MIFC stands, welcoming guests to the Auditorium and audiences to the Hangar of the Institut Lumière and serving breakfast at the ‘Trip to the Ends of Horror” All-Nighter at the Halle Tony-Garnier.
