BRIEF BIO: Actress, expert in tap dancing, hip-hop and modern jazz. Zoé Alliaume has more than one talent in her bag of tricks. With a keen sense of humour, she says, ‘I even dressed up as SpongeBob SquarePants and Paw Patrol in a shopping centre! And it's not easy to choreograph dances in those costumes!’ This hyperactive young woman from Lyon has an impressive CV: she graduated as an actress from the prestigious New York Film Academy, trained in tap dancing and performed in graduation films. At just 21 years old, Zoé has transformed her passion into her profession: ‘Everything related to cinema interests me!’ Originally from Lyon, she grew up in Malaysia and then moved to New York after graduating from high school to pursue her dreams. Between classes and auditions, Zoé worked as a volunteer at the Soho International Film Festival and the Dominican Film Festival in New York. Having returned to France two months ago, she has fond memories of these events: ‘I met Dave Gahan, the singer from Depeche Mode! And I met American actor Lou Diamond Philips, who starred in La Bamba, and he even asked to take a photo with me. It was crazy!’ Joining the festival's team of volunteers was a natural fit for this multi-gifted Lyon native. And maybe one day, audiences will be able to admire Zoé on the big screen. As the adage goes, ‘Nothing is impossible for a Lyonnais’!
MY FAVOURITE FILMMAKERS: I'm a die-hard Spielberg fan, he really is the filmmaker of my childhood. He manages to create a fantastic universe that hooks me every time! I also love director Sean Carter, whom I was lucky enough to meet at the Soho International Film Festival.
THEATRE WHERE I DISCOVERED CINEMA: The movie theater in the eCurve shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I grew up. We used to go there regularly as a family.
MY GO-TO FILM: Twelve Angry Men by Sidney Lumet: I saw it in secondary school as part of my philosophy class. I love the script and the dialogue. And then there's Henry Fonda – what an actor!
WHY I VOLUNTEER: I’ve always been attracted to events and everything related to cinema interests me. I love being part of the organisation, the behind-the-scenes aspect. It’s also a good chance to meet the artists and chat with other volunteers.
MY MISSIONS AT THE FESTIVAL: For my first year at the festival, I had the opportunity to do several very different tasks: accompanying guests, distributing programmes at the Halle Tony-Garnier, setting up the buffet and welcoming festivalgoers to the Pathé Bellecour.
