Why is it important for BYD to support the Lumière film festival?

Supporting the Lumière film festival is first and foremost in order to associate BYD and its premium brand DENZA with a prestigious event that celebrates the history and the passion of cinema. Films tell stories that inspire us and bring us together. Our role as car manufacturers is similar: to offer technological innovations that accompany us in our lives, our trips, our emotions. By supporting the Lumière film festival, we express our intention to contribute to spreading culture, with humility and enthusiasm.

Is the fact that the festival is an event accessible and open to everyone important to you?

Absolutely. The Lumière film festival has this singularity of being a prestigious event and at the same time a festival for the average person. It brings together celebrities of international cinema and millions of festivalgoers from Lyon or elsewhere. This proximity to the public is a value that means a lot to us. BYD creates very advanced technology, but always with the idea of making them accessible and useful to everyone. The popular nature of the festival perfectly illustrates this alliance between excellence and sharing.

What do you like about cinema?

We love its profoundly collective dimension. A film is the result of a multitude of talents, both visible and invisible, all working together to bring a story and emotions to life. At BYD and DENZA, we share this same vision: our vehicles are the result of the work of thousands of engineers, designers and researchers who collaborate to create a unique experience. Our brand is a promise: ‘Build Your Dreams’. This promise intends to help people achieve their ambitions, using technologies that support a sustainable future. Cinema and the automotive industry share this idea of collective work in the service of the public.

Which event of the festival are you most looking forward to?

Each moment of the Lumière film festival is unique, but the opening ceremony at the Halle Tony Garnier is always a highlight; the moment when artists, the audience and partners come together to launch a week of discoveries and emotions. We are particularly pleased that the DENZA Z9GT will be on display here: it will be a symbolic moment for us, almost like a film premiere for DENZA, just like a film being released on the big screen.
