The 6th DVD and Physical publishing Fair

is open!

Annually, for the past six years, the Lumière film festival has held the DVD and Physical publishing Fair, a medium as relevant as ever for heritage cinema.

How is the 6th DVD Fair coming along?

Juliette Rajon : There are a growing number of publishers and publishing houses represented, and we now have a clear identity among professionals. A total of 22 publishers will be on hand to discuss and present new releases, restored cult movies and previously unreleased boxed sets. In a market that's tending to shrink for new cinema releases, the heritage DVD Fair is holding its ground, thanks in no small part to a public of connoisseurs, collectors at heart.

What about the public?

JR : The number of visitors has always been on an uptick. The Fair is a highlight not only for them, but also for the publishers, who not only sell, but also build up a client base and develop special bonds with film enthusiasts with whom they can chat. The Fair is also a key event in our year-round work on heritage DVDs, because we can’t forget that the Institut Lumière has a bookstore where over 5,000 titles are available for sale. It's all part of a virtuous ecosystem.

And at the end of the day?

JR : At 6pm, we all end the day together with a big quiz that includes about twenty questions and lots of prizes to be won, donated by the publishers. Everyone plays as much for the prizes as for the questions, which are really challenging and test the knowledge of the whole audience!
