The Star Wars All-Nighter:

Tips and tricks for the Jedi

Volunteers Olivier Drouet and Céline Guerois, a couple from Lyon who are fans of George Lucas's saga, give us some advice on how to make the most of this anthology all-nighter.

What motivated you to participate in The Star Wars All-Nighter?

Olivier: We discovered the special All-Nighter screenings five years ago with The Lord of the Rings saga as volunteers, and we were blown away by the excitement of the evening - it was incredible! Star Wars is a spectacular universe, and I know that the public will play along, so there will be plenty of people who’ll show up in costume. It's a bit like a fan zone at a World Cup!

What's the essential ingredient for a successful Star Wars All-Nighter?

Céline: Without hesitation, the costume! Olivier and I called on the services of a friend who is a professional costume designer, Arthur Colombin: I'll be dressed as General Grievous, Commander-in-Chief of the droid army, and Olivier as a droid soldier.

How should one prepare for a sleepless night?

Olivier: I plan to take a short nap during the day; you also need to eat well to keep your energy up, so you can bring food, for example. There's also a dormitory behind the screen at the Halle Tony Garnier if you feel tired, but I prefer a thermos of coffee or energy drinks.

Any tips for D-Day?

Céline: Bring comfortable clothes and a few extras, such as a cushion. Some people bring their sleeping bags! And above all, you need to come at least 1h30/2h early to be sure you get good seats.
