Emmanuel Gasnot, CEO of Dessange International, explains the links that have united his group with the Lumière Film Festival for the past fifteen years.
What is the nature of the partnership between Dessange and the Lumière Film Festival?
While the Lumière Film Festival celebrates cinema heritage, the House of Dessange honours its savoir-faire and heritage in the realm of hairdressing. What they both have in common is a dedication to tradition, quality and excellence in their respective fields. Each year, the Lumière Film Festival enables Dessange to reaffirm its commitment to and passion for the cinema. For the duration of the festival, Dessange studio hairdressers and make-up artists, as well as those from the Dessange hair salons in Lyon, work to make the artists on site look their best.
On a broader level, what are the connections between Dessange and the cinema?
Since the 1960s, Jacques Dessange, the brand's founder, has forged close ties with the film industry, styling the hair of some of the world's biggest stars. This strong and passionate link between Dessange and the cinema has naturally become stronger over the years, positioning Dessange as an essential partner for film festivals. Cinema and Dessange share a common history and values of innovation, creativity and aesthetics.
What's your favourite memory of the Lumière Film Festival?
Aside from the programme, which is always on point, I always greatly enjoy listening to Thierry Frémaux's speeches at the opening ceremony, illustrated by absolutely delightful montages of homages to films. It's always a wonderful moment!
