NEW SITE!

The Lumière film festival at the Hôtel–Dieu

This October, the Lumière film festival sets up its headquarters in the heart of Lyon’s metropolitan area!

For its 2026 edition, the Lumière film festival takes a bold new step, solidifying its presence across the metropolitan area. For the first time, the Cinema Village will take up residence at the Hôtel-Dieu. Nestled in the very heart of downtown Lyon, the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, fully restored in 2019, will offer festivalgoers a space of 2,000 m2  (21,500 sq ft).

This installation in such an exceptional setting is made possible thanks to the support of Lyon Metropole.

The Cinema Village will serve as both a lively social hub and a meeting place, complete with a café, restaurant, bar, bookshop, DVD market… and an artistic space, featuring a specialized program of encounters, events and exhibitions. The Village will set up shop for the first time at the Hôtel-Dieu, an iconic heritage site of the Lyon Metropolitan Area.

The Cinema Village will also be the meeting ground for Classic Film Market professionals and press from around the world.

Situated near the hotels and cinemas in downtown Lyon, major focal points of the festival, the Cinema Village will offer free admission and be open to all.

Just eight minutes away by metro, the Institut Lumière and Rue du Premier-Film will remain at the epicenter of Lumière 2026, with its Hangar (cinema) the Lumière Villa, the bookshop, the gallery and the café-restaurant – and, as you’ll discover, a new way of bringing Rue du Premier-Film to life.

Every year, the Lumière film festival unfolds across some fifty venues throughout the Lyon Metropolitan Area and welcomes more than 160,000 festivalgoers.

The event will take place from October 10 to 18, 2026.
