Students at the Lumière Film Festival
The Lumière film festival has become an unmissable event of the festive cinema experience. It welcomes a myriad of national and international personalities.
From Saturday the 10th to Sunday the 18th of October 2026, the 18th edition of the Lumière film festival will be held in the movie theatres and entertainment venues of Lyon and its Metropolitan area, including at the Halle Tony Garnier, the Amphitheatre of the Cité Internationale or the Auditorium of Lyon.
Every year, over 6,000 students attend film screenings, which are introduced by artists who come to share their passion for the 7th art: retrospectives, tributes, restored prints, rereleases of forgotten films, encounters and discussions with filmmakers, actors and authors...

1 / Students at the festival
Attend a screening of the programme (elementary school to high school)
During the Lumière film festival, there are two screenings reserved for schoolchildren: one for primary school pupils, the other for middle schools students. In addition to these events, any film of the festival lineup can be adapted to your class.
‘Pass Région’ and ‘Pass Culture’ accepted
The transportation of high schoolers is provided thanks to the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.
A special rate of 4 € (instead of 6 €) is available to students.

From today, you can pre-register for the 2026 Lumière film festival.
Pre-registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
In September, as soon as the festival programme is available, you can speak with a dedicated representative.
Fanny Bolac will contact you personally to help you curate a selection of screenings.
You can thus make a definitive reservation of selected films.

3 / High School Prize
Created in 2014, the High School Prize is supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, which allows 6,000 students to attend the Lumière festival annually. The prize is presented during the Closing Ceremony of the Lumière film festival at the Halle Tony Garnier before an audience of 5,000.
