To celebrate the magazine’s golden anniversary, the Institut Lumière is showcasing a selection of Première covers, taking the visitor on a journey through five decades of film. From 1976 until today, these images relate the history of cinema itself and how it has been perceived.

Meet Michèle Halberstadt, distributor (ARP Sélection), author and former editor-in-chief of Première from 1987 to 1990. Followed by a book signing of Brèves rencontres (2017, Albin Michel) and Juste un peu d’amour (2026, Le cherche midi)
A major reference in the world of publishing, enjoying exceptional popularity, with a circulation that reached as high as 500,000 copies, Première has been a leading voice for generations of filmgoers, sharing a wide-ranging and open love of cinema. To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Lumière film festival is welcoming Michèle Halberstadt, winner of the 2022 Fabienne Vonier Prize, who will share her journey at Première. On this occasion, she will sign copies of Brèves rencontres, a book comprising the major interviews of her career, as well as Juste un peu d’amour, her novel published this year.
