Launched successfully in 2025, the festival’s series of events featuring special guests returns for this edition, held at the Cinema Village at the Cité of the Hôtel-Dieu. Roundtables, discussions with artists, workshops and book signings… the first confirmed events are below. The program will be updated on a regular basis.

saturday, OCTOBER 10

3pm Film criticism: the art of sparking the viewers’ interest

Meet Nathalie Chifflet (Présidente du Syndicat de la critique de cinéma), Nicolas Schaller (Le Nouvel Obs), and Philippe Rouyer (Positif)
In collaboration with the French Film Critics’ Union, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, the Lumière film festival invites you to immerse yourself in the history of an art form whose French excellence is renowned the world over, yet which finds itself confronted with considerable challenges today.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

11am Meet Abel Ferrara

Followed by a book signing of his memoirs, Scène. Mémoires. (2026, Séguier)
An independent filmmaker and prominent figure in American cinema, Abel Ferrara looks back on his life journey, mentioning people he has met, his passions and the films that have influenced his free-spirited and unique career. Through his memoirs, he offers a personal and candid glimpse into a life devoted to cinema.

3:30pm 50 years of cinephilia on video

Round-table discussion with André Bonzel (filmmaker and collector), Jérome Wybon (author), Philippe Rouyer and Nathalie Chifflet, followed by a book signing of Vidéos, vidéos by Jérôme Wybon (2026, Carlotta, an exclusive pre-release for Lumière 2026)
From the first VHS tapes to new ways of discovering and collecting films, the advent of video has profoundly transformed cinema culture. André Bonzel, Jérôme Wybon and Philippe Rouyer will revisit 50 years of video history, discussing innovations, a passion for images and recalling various formats.

5:30pm Remembering Tonie Marshall

Meet Olivier Bomsel, author of the book Toto (2026, Arte / Séguier) 
Followed by a book signing
A producer, director, screenwriter and the first woman to receive a César Award for Best Director, Tonie Marshall left her mark on French cinema with her unique gaze and her independence. Olivier Bomse, her husband of over thirty years, reminisces about this side of “Tonie,” recounting her life and legacy in his book Toto, a tribute to this artist whose influence still remains strong today.

7pm Meet Guillaume Gallienne

Meet the actor and director, followed by a book signing of Ma Nuit au musée - le buveur de brume (2026, Stock).
An actor, director, author and partner at the Comédie-Française, Guillaume Gallienne continues to create works that weave together theater, film, literature and intimate life. He will be joining us to share his experiences and discuss his new book, in which he offers his personal viewpoint on art and creativity.

11am Taxi Driver: 50 Years Since the Palme d'Or

Meet Delphine Valloire, author of the book Il était une fois… Taxi Driver (2026, Rockyrama, an exclusive pre-release for Lumière 2026), followed by a book signing
Five decades after its screening at Cannes, Taxi Driver remains one of Martin Scorsese’s most iconic films and a landmark in American cinema. Delphine Valloire takes us behind the scenes of this masterpiece, from its conception to its filming, to help us understand how this gripping portrait of an America in crisis came to be.

Meet Sylvain Perret,  author of the book George Lautner, l’oeil du professionnel (2026, Carlotta), followed by a book signing

An avid enthusiast of American cinema and its regions, Jean-Baptiste Thoret invites us on a grand cinematic journey through his books on the United States, road movies or pivotal filmmakers. A chance to explore America through film—its landscapes, its myths and its many divides.

Meet François and Max Armanet, authors of Il était une fois… le ciné kung-fu (2026, Flammarion), followed by a book signing
From Bruce Lee’s movies to the major figures of martial arts cinema, kung fu has greatly influenced the history of film and fueled the imagination of several generations of viewers. Journalist brothers François and Max Armanet recount this cinematic adventure, evoking the stars, choreographies, studios and films that have become cult classics.

6:30pm Meet Vincent Delerm

Meet the singer-songwriter, followed by a book signing of Like (2026, Seghers).
Author-composer, musician, photographer and filmmaker Vincent Delerm has been developing a unique universe for over twenty years, attentively capturing the details of everyday life and fleeting emotions. He will share his perspective on the images, stories and characters that nourish his work, on the occasion of the release of Like, a work that is part travelogue, part photo essay.

11am Serge Kaganski, the Inrockuptible

Meet the author of 32 ans, ma vie Inrocks (2026, Les éditions du braquage), followed by a book signing.
For over three decades, Serge Kaganski has been an integral part of the Inrockuptibles’ journey (and one of its founders) at the heart of the shifting cultural landscape and cinephilia. In 32 ans, ma vie Inrocks, he glances back on this collective story, from his encounters to his discoveries, evoking major transformations in modern culture.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15

11am Talk: Clara Bow, the star of silent cinema 

By Martin Barnier, film historian (University of Lyon 2), in conjunction with the film concert It, organized by the Lumière film festival and the Auditorium of Lyon.
An icon of silent cinema and a beloved phenomenon of the Roaring Twenties, Clara Bow single-handedly created the notion of the “It Girl,” exemplifying both a free-spirited nature and a dazzling on-screen presence. Martin Barnier will trace the path of the actress who was forgotten far too quickly. He plaices her work within the context of a Hollywood of silent film, already spectacular, as a prelude to the film concert.

3pm Meet Andréa Bescond

Meet the actress, director and author, followed by a signing of Une simple histoire de famille (2023, Albin Michel).
Having initially gained acclaim for her one-woman show Little Tickles (later adapted for the cinema), Andréa Bescond has turned her art into a space for truth and healing, incorporating dance, acting and advocacy. She will reflect on her journey as an artist and activist and discuss how film can serve as a tool for speaking oneself and conveying experiences of violence suffered during childhood.

5pm Talk: Pathé, the story of a French company

Lecture by Jacques Gerber, film historian
A year after Auguste and Louis Lumière shot their first film in Lyon, Charles and Émile Pathé founded their company in 1986. It would become one of the very first industrial powerhouses of the cinema industry and dominate global production well before 1914. Jacques Gerber traces this extraordinary adventure, from the company’s origins to the pre-war period: its early days, the rise of an industrial and artistic empire, and how Pathé has shaped cinema, both in France and abroad.

7pm Intersecting paths: Laetitia Dosch & Irène Jacob

Two actresses, two distinctive paths and a shared passion for theater and film, Irène Jacob and Laetitia Dosch reunite for the Lumière film festival, after having shared the stage in an adaptation of Marguerite Duras’s The Malady of Death.
During a candid and convivial conversation, they’ll reflect on their trajectories, their experiences as actresses, encounters that have had an impact on their careers, along with the joys and challenges unique to the acting profession.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16

11am Première, 50 years of cinema

Meet Michèle Halberstadt, distributor (ARP Sélection), author and former editor-in-chief of Première from 1987 to 1990. Followed by a book signing of Brèves rencontres (2017, Albin Michel) and Juste un peu d’amour (2026, Le cherche midi) 
Held in conjunction with the exhibition Première, 50 years of cinema, on display during the  Lumière film festival at the Cinema Photo Gallery (Rue du Premier-Film, Lyon 8th)

A major reference in the world of publishing, enjoying exceptional popularity, with a circulation that reached as high as 500,000 copies, Première has been a leading voice for generations of filmgoers, sharing a wide-ranging and open love of cinema. To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Lumière film festival is welcoming Michèle Halberstadt, winner of the 2022 Fabienne Vonier Prize, who will share her journey at Première. On this occasion, she will sign copies of Brèves rencontres, a book comprising the major interviews of her career, as well as Juste un peu d’amour, her novel published this year.

3pm Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, a unique co-production model

Meet Marie-Anaïs Angelier, CEO of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma
Recently appointed at the helm of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, Marie-Anaïs Angelier presents an overview of the region’s film production landscape: its successes, its prospects and the challenges that lie ahead. Winning the Palme d’Or and an Academy Award for Anatomy of a Fall, two César Awards for Holy Cow (including Best First Feature) and the huge hit A Little Something Extra – all these films were co-produced by the organization, illustrating the vitality of a region, now a pivotal player in French cinema, from supporting works to promoting filming locations and bolstering the entire industry.

5pm 100 years since Marilyn Monroe: an enthusiast's perspective

Meet Sébastien Cauchon, author of Marilyn chérie (avec Catherine Deneuve, 2026, Flammarion) and Marilyn 1962 (2016, Stock).
Followed by a book signing
To mark the centennial of her birth, Sébastien Cauchon reflects on the ultimate icon, Marilyn Monroe, at once a Hollywood legend and yet a highly elusive woman. A longtime enthusiast of her life and work, he will share insight gleamed from his books, which are part admiration and part documentary research of the captivating timeless figure.

A conversation with the actress about her portrayal of Alice Guy in the series Alice, premiering at the Lumière Festival.
Alice Guy, the first female director in the history of cinema, was a pioneer whose work remains quite unknown. In the upcoming series in her honor, Bérénice Bejo portrays her, reviving a crucial figure from the dawn of cinema. The actress will reflect on her interpretation, on the discovery of an extraordinary personality and on the challenges of bringing this groundbreaking cinema figure to life on the screen.

Meet Delphine Agut (screenwriter, Souleymane's Story, César Award for Best Screenplay in 2025) and Gilles Marchand (director and screenwriter, César Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2023 for The Night of the 12th).
How does a screenplay come to life, and how is it crafted and rewritten? Delphine Agut and Gilles Marchand, both recent César Award winners for screenwriting, will share their insights and approaches as they explore together the behind-the-scenes process of creating a screenplay—balancing the discipline of writing with creative risk-taking.

He will speak about his career and his views on creativity in all its diverse forms.

Roundtable with Brigitte Baronnet (AlloCiné), and YouTubers Nicolas Delage and Ramy CinéClub.
In the era of ubiquitous social media, short videos and content creators, the world of film is further undergoing a transformation. This roundtable discussion, in partnership with AlloCiné, will bring together several voices from this new generation to explore how one discovers, comments on and shares films today, navigating the divide between traditional criticism and frontiers of new digital formats.

11am Belmondo according to his friend Vincent Perrot

Meet Vincent Perrot, author of Mon Belmondo: Itinéraire d'un acteur gâté (2026, Hugo Publishing).
Followed by a book signing
A close friend of Jean-Paul Belmondo for many years, Vincent Perrot delivers an intimate portrait of the man behind the legend with this publication. After directing a documentary focused on the actor in 2011, the journalist and film connoisseur still had more to share about his friend “Bébel.” To coincide with the current exhibition at the Cinémathèque, Perrot presents this album chronicling the career of an extraordinary actor, interspersed with never-before-heard testimonials from figures ranging from Sophie Marceau to Zinédine Zidane, Danièle Thompson or Jean Dujardin.
