ONE DAY, ONE VOLUNTEER
Anne Katzin
POSTED ON 12.10.2026
QUICK BIO: Probability and statistics are hardly mysteries for Anne Katzin. With a degree in applied mathematics, she handles figures with flair. And even when you ask about her taste in films, she comes up with the perfect equation: ‘The film’s subject matter, multiplied by the actors. That’s what determines my choice.” Originally from Toulon, Anne instantly fell in love with Lyon when she arrived twenty-seven years ago: “It’s a city we love and have chosen for its aesthetic appeal and heritage; it’s the city closest to our hearts.” This logistics manager has been working with major brands for two decades. A discerning film buff, she is joining the team of volunteers for the second year in a row, attracted by the lively atmosphere of the event: “I love the electricity you feel as you enter the theaters, a few minutes before the film starts.” Viewers from all walks of life, enthusiastic volunteers, multiplied by films of every genre and from every era equals a festival for everyone. It all adds up!
MY FAVORITE FILMMAKERS: I love comedies with a social conscience, like the films by Cédric Klapisch. And I’m a lifelong fan of Clint Eastwood.
MOVIE THEATER WHERE I DISCOVERED THE CINEMA: It was “Les 5 Nefs” cinema in Chalon-sur-Saône. As a child, I didn’t go to the movies very often, but I made up for it later! I have fond memories of watching Luc Besson’s film The Fifth Element!
MY GO-TO FILM: No hesitation: Erin Brockovich by Steven Soderbergh. Julia Roberts is my favorite actress; I love the aura she exudes as a woman. It would be amazing to see her at the festival!
VOLUNTEERING: I started volunteering a few years ago with the charity ‘Les Petites Cantines’ in Lyon. I also helped out on several occasions at markets and community centers in Boston while accompanying my daughter. What I enjoy most of all is feeling that I’m making a difference and meeting people with different backgrounds.
MY MISSIONS AT THE FESTIVAL
Preparing tote bags for guests, seating the audience for Opening Night, staffing the bar at the Villa Lumière and welcoming festivalgoers at the UGC Confluence and Pathé Bellecour movie theaters.
