Alfonso Cuarón is a two-time Academy award-winning director (Gravity and Roma) and a heavyweight in contemporary international cinema, alternating between extraordinary blockbusters and personal masterpieces with his remarkable auteur touch. The filmmaker is set to return to Lyon to premiere his new series, Disclaimer, which will be screened in its entirety!
First introduced to the world thanks to his screen adaptation of Dickens' novel Great Expectations (1988), and most notably with the sensational Y tu mamá también (2001), Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaròn has since built a singular body of work. His œuvre contains both high-calibre Hollywood movies (Gravity, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - generally regarded as the best instalment of the saga), tours de force (Children of Men, a cinematic gem of the 2000s) and intimate masterpieces (Roma, winner of a Golden Lion and two Oscars).
Thirty years after his last foray into directing for television (one episode of the series Fallen Angels, which also featured work by Steven Soderbergh, Peter Bogdanovich and Agnieszka Holland), he has brought Disclaimer to Apple Tv+. Adapted from the novel of the same name, headlined by Cate Blanchett and co-starring Kevin Kline and Sacha Baron Cohen, the limited series will be released on the platform this fall.
The filmmaker made a point of choosing Lyon, and the Lumière Film Festival, to present this series-event. We can’t wait!
Our thanks to Apple Tv+
