Closing ceremony: invitation to Jean-Jacques Annaud

Image Soiree Cloture

Jean-Jacques Annaud's sumptuous medieval thriller starring Sean Connery has been absent from cinemas for years. Newly restored, it will be screened as the closing film of the 2023 Lumière film festival!

Adapted from Umberto Eco's extraordinary novel, which has become one of the greatest works of the 20th century, The Name of the Rose is a masterpiece full of suspense and lyricism.

Rediscovering it on the giant screen at the Halle Tony Garnier will be one of the great highlights of the 15th Lumière film festival. The screening will also be an opportunity to celebrate Jean-Jacques Annaud, a multi-faceted filmmaker who has taken on every challenge. He has directed Patrick Dewaere, Brad Pitt, Sean Connery, Rachel Weisz, Jude Law, Elizabeth McGovern and Freida Pinto... as well as a bear and tigers!
